Trade shows are very important events, especially for young businesses looking for their big break. Your product could be the most revolutionary thing the world will ever lay eyes on, but it won’t make a difference if no one sees it. There are a few things you can do to spice up your presentation, so that you’ll be the talk of the trade show.
Bring a Catchy Giveaway
To get hold of a much bigger audience, make sure you host a giveaway. Don’t skimp out and give away a fruit basket or movie passes. We’re also not suggesting you follow Oprah’s example and give everyone who stops by your booth a new car. However, something enticing, popular, and reasonably expensive will definitely attract people. Knowing the type of people who will attend the trade show will definitely be of use when picking your giveaway product. If you can’t come up with anything, you can always give away the ever-popular iPad.
Amongst a sea of competitors and other businesses, you want your booth to be memorable. A great way to keep people’s attention after their first glance is with a catchy headline. This can be something thought-provoking, controversial (within reason), or perhaps funny. Humor goes a long way in promoting your product, and in giving off a positive impression of your company. But even a catchy headline is not guaranteed to attract, if no one can see it. So make sure you boldface your catchphrase, so it’s sure to pop in people’s minds.
Keep Your Messages Short
Like a good PowerPoint presentation, your description of your product, and other information you choose to display should be short and to the point. When appropriate, use short bullet points, bolds and italics to make your point stick out. Don’t get too technical; assume the average person has no previous knowledge or recollection of your company or your product.
Bring your friendliest employees
This tip might seem kind of obvious, but it is surprising how it can be overlooked. Once you get people to your table, even if you have the greatest giveaway, tasty treats, and a catchy headline, people aren’t guaranteed to be interested in your product. Having friendly, knowledgeable and interesting employees that can hold a conversation and display passion for the product is what will keep people at your booth. It won’t hurt if they’re fun, enthusiastic and spirited either.
Sometimes, even if you follow all these tips, your success will be sub-par simply because you are at the wrong trade show. Do your research, and make sure that the show you are at is the one where your product can be appreciated by the most amount of people. Have a positive demeanor and take things in stride, but most importantly, have fun!
